Northern Illinois Eye Clinic
Your first visit is a full, comprehensive medical eye exam, including screening for: Cataracts, Glaucoma, and Macular Degeneration. Come meet with our specialist today! We are located in Willow Springs Corporate Center at the intersection of Town Line Road and Route 83 in Mundelein. Normally during cataract surgery, the capsule or bag of the cataract is preserved and the lens implant is placed in the capsule to hold the lens in place.

Over time, this capsule can get cloudy. Tearing eyes can be very irritating and a real nuisance, but it can also be a sign of other eye problems. Tearing in adults is either due to overproduction of tears or inability to drain. Monovision is when one eye sees far well and the other eye sees near. This can occur naturally as some people may have one eye which grows longer than the other.
Services
I love the eye and my patients!
I provide comprehensive eye examinations for adults.
I am an opthalmologist, which means I diagnose and treat medical diseases and disorders of the eye, as well as perform surgery on the eyelids and front part of the eye.
I specialize in small-incision cataract surgery.
My goal is to give personalized care to every patient.
I grew up in Libertyville, IL and graduated from Libertyville High School.
From there, I followed our family tradition (my 2 older sisters) and ran cross country and track at Purdue University.
We now have Optical Coherence Tomography which can scan the retina and under the retina for earlier detection of changes in macular degeneration.
Dr. Velotta will run several tests to find the type of dry eye you are experiencing and give tips on how to deal with this difficult condition.
Dr Velotta offers traditional single vision, monovision, Toric for astigmatism, and Restor premium lenses for both distance and near vision improvement.
We treat many eyelid diseases such as removal of eyelid skin cancer and chalazion removal.
The best sunglasses offer 100 percent UV absorption, are of the best optical quality and are impact resistant, made of polycarbonate.
For over- the-counter sunglasses, look for 100% block of UV-A and UV-B, not the color of the lenses.
UV protection is a special coating on the lenses.
Sunglasses cannot protect your eyes from certain intense light sources.
Arc welding, tanning beds/lights, snowfields, or gazing directly at the sun, especially during a solar eclipse, for example, can severely damage your eyes.
