Center For Eye Care
We believe in medicine as a calling. Our mission is to provide the best care available in comfortable surroundings and at reasonable prices. Quality and cost control are important to us and our state licensed surgical facility was built to address the outrageous prices, lack specialized equipment and long waits at the local hospital. We have the most recent modification of excimer laser for LASIK available.

Our practice is unique also in that our center has undergone voluntary accreditation by the AAAHC, and Dr. Gordon has undergone American Board of Eye Surgery. Dr. Alan D. Gordon has practiced in Lewistown for over thirty years. He is board certified for general ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has taken voluntary certification as a cataract sub specialist by the American Board of Eye Surgery.

This certification involves direct observation of Dr. Gordon's surgical procedures as well as a study involving surgical outcome. Dr. Gordon was certified by the American Board of Eye Surgery in 1992 and, because this certification is only granted for 10 years, he has been recertified.
Services
Dr. Gordon has been performing refractive surgery since 1987 to enhance the results for cataract surgery patients.
Astigmatic Keratotomy, astigmatism correcting lens implants and multifocal lens implants (see cataract surgery section) are other refractive procedures performed at our center.
We began LASIK several years after it was introduced in this country and have been performing it since 2001.
We use the most up-to-date laser available in the US.
LASIK or Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis reshapes the cornea by removing tissue beneath the surface of the cornea.
Macular degeneration, also known as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), is a common condition in older adults and the leading cause of vision loss in people age 50 and older.

We deal both with the early form of Macular Degeneration(the dry form) and the more advanced (wet form)Types Of Macular Degeneration (see below).
We offer all of the medications available for wet Macular Degeneration - Eyelea, Avastin and Lucentis.
Dr. Gordon's office is equipped with the latest technology in diagnostic and examination equipment.
This allows us to provide our patients with the most thorough, comprehensive eye examinations available.
We thoroughly check the internal and external health of your eyes including tests for cataracts and glaucoma.
Dr. Gordon also checks for the presence of corneal disorders and will examine the retina to ensure proper health and continued good vision.
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids.
