We at Bowman Optometry have a full-service optical department with over 500 frames in stock.
We have frames in all styles and price ranges including many desired designer lines including Calvin Klein, Versace, Ferragamo, Lacoste, RayBan, Max Mara, Nike, Coach and many more.
We also carry a large assortment of sunglasses including RayBan, Maui Jim, and Costa Del Mar.
Bowman Optometry specializes in all types of contact lenses.
Whether it be daily disposables for an athletic event, a tinted lens to change eye color, or a custom rigid gas permeable lens for keratoconus-we can fit you properly and comfortably.
Daily disposable contact lenses- the most safest most hygienic of all contact lenses.
Wear them for the day, then throw them away when the day is done.
These now come in toric for astigmatism, tinted for eye color change, and multifocal for presbyopia (age-related focusing deficiency at near).
We love kids and have specialized testing to make sure they are not only seeing clearly but comfortably.
Many children are hyperopic (far-sighted) and can pass school screenings with ease because they are generally monitoring distance vision.
But these children can experience much more eye fatigue because their eyes have to work harder to focus on their books and tablets.
If they are near-sighted and need correction, we have many options to try and limit progression (see myopic control section).
Myopia, or nearsightedness is becoming extremely common in children today.
It is estimated to affect about 42 million children in the U.S. Often, myopia in children can worsen year after year.
This change can be very upsetting to both parents and children.
Often we hear questions like: "Will it ever stop?" or "Will it get so bad that they can't see with glasses or contact lenses?"
In addition to the angst it can cause to the young patient, the changes to the structure of the eye become alarming.
Keratoconus is a condition where the front window to the eye (cornea) is cone-shaped hence the name keratoconus.
Normally the cornea is smooth and relatively aspheric (round in the middle and flatter toward the edge).
With keratoconus, the cornea is thinner and therefore bulges forward due to internal fluid pressure.
Because of this irregularly shaped cornea, the patient's vision is compromised greatly due to a distorted image getting to the retina and ultimately the brain.
It is most often a progressive condition which begins in the adolescent years and can progress all the way into middle aged adulthood.
