Claremore Eye Associates
We believe eye care should be focused on individuals and their unique health and lifestyle. Dr. Smith is the owner of Claremore Eye Associates and has been in private practice since 1973. He is active in the American Optometric Association and Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians. He is a past President of Southwest Council of Optometry, past secretary of the Oklahoma Optometric Foundation and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the OAOP from 1983-1999.

He has served as President of the Oklahoma Board of Examiners, and he was selected as Oklahoma Optometrist of the Year in 1996. Dr. Crissup is co-owner of Claremore Eye Associates, joining her father Dr. Steve Smith in practice in 2009. She was raised in Claremore, and is excited to be a third generation health care provider here! Her maternal grandfather, the late Dr. E.E.

Lacy, was a chiropractor in town for many years. Dr. Crissup graduated from Claremore High School and Oklahoma State University. She completed her doctorate at NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry.
Services
I have been taking both of my kids here for years, and there is no way I would ever take them anywhere else.
The staff are always nice, and always willing to help.
My wife & I were referred to Dr. Smith by our family Dr. for possible cataract issues.
We were thoroughly examined by him & Dr. Crissup today & promptly referred to a local ophthalmologist for treatment.
Both doctors & all the staff we encountered were very professional & friendly in the most 'country' way.
If you've had a vision screening recently, you might say, My vision is fine!
I don't need a comprehensive eye exam.
But a vision screening provides a limited perspective on the overall health of your eyes.
It's a bit like getting your blood pressure checked and not getting the rest of your annual physical.
You'll have useful information.
But it's not the whole picture.
Orthokeratology (ortho-k) is the fitting of specially designed gas permeable contact lenses that you wear overnight.
While you are asleep, the lenses gently reshape the front surface of your eye (cornea) so you can see clearly the following day after you remove the lenses when you wake up.
To correct refractive errors (primarily nearsightedness, but also astigmatism and hyperopia).
In some cases, ortho-k also is used to correct presbyopia.
Ortho-k lenses are also called "corneal reshaping contact lenses" or "overnight contact lenses to correct or control myopia."
While dry eye isn't a serious condition, it can have a major impact on your quality of life.
You may find your eyes get tired faster or you have difficulty reading.
Not to mention the discomfort of a burning sensation or blurry vision.
Let's take a look at dry eye treatments - from simple self-care to innovative prescriptions and therapies - to help you see clearly and comfortably.
Understanding dry eye will help you determine the best treatment option.
Dry eye occurs when a person doesn't have enough quality tears to lubricate and nourish the eye.
If you've never worn contact lenses, it can feel a bit intimidating.
You're inserting something into your eye, after all!
Let's ease your mind about the first step - your contact lens exam.
This blog will walk you through what's involved in a contact lens exam and what you can expect every step of the way.
Your eye doctor will first determine your overall eye health and vision.
This includes a discussion of your health history and then a series of standard eye tests.
These tests will evaluate eye focusing, eye teaming, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, and the response of pupils to light.
