Dr. Burt graduated cum laude from Franciscan University in 1997, attended Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) for pre-med, and earned his Doctorate in Optometry from Indiana University, graduating with academic and clinical honors in 2003.
Dr. Burt completed additional training at Indiana University Eyecare Clinics, the Veterans Administration Hospital of Indianapolis, and with Indiana Eye Surgeons in Indianapolis.

Dr. Wood is a member of the American Optometric Association and the local Catawba Optometric Society.
She is also an InfantSEE provider--a public health program providing professional eye care for infants, and volunteers for Special Olympics vision screenings.
