Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus
The mission of our practice is to provide the best attainable medical and surgical care for our patients. Our practice was established in 1966. The subspecialty of Pediatric Ophthalmology is a young one, and Pittsburgh was one of the first cities in the U.S.A. to have an office exclusively dedicated to the care of eye problems in children. Our physicians are experienced with the management of all eye problems arising in childhood, the management of strabismus in adults.

Our offices are staffed with more than 20 assistants who have received special training to provide you with the best possible ophthalmologic care. In the Operating Room, we are assisted by experienced O.R. personnel that have worked with each of us for many years. Call our Administrative office, (724) 772-3388, if your child has an eye problem requiring emergency treatment.

During regular business hours we will direct you to the office most convenient for you or to the hospital as the situation requires. During after hours our answering service can reach one of our doctors 24 hours a day for emergencies.
Services
Jane Hughes, M.D.; Joseph Paviglianiti, M.D.; and Eric Pennock, M.D.are diplomates of the American Board of Ophthalmology and members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
They are Pediatric Ophthalmologists, that is, medical doctors who have received additional training in the medical and surgical care of the eyes and the visual system.
They also have an understanding of the eyes' interaction with the other functions of the body.
Your visit to our office will be most productive if you specify the relative urgency for your appointment.
We make every effort to accommodate the needs of all patients and attempt to keep waiting periods for appointments to a minimum, however, you must understand that during school breaks and during the summer months, our schedule fills early, and is busy.
When calling to schedule your appointment, please have all your information ready including birth dates, Social Security numbers, Health Insurance Cards, your Primary Care Physician or Pediatricianname, and a calendar to mark the date.
The physicians at Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Surgical Associates have always made every effort to provide the highest quality care at a reasonable cost.
If you are the person responsible for payment for your visit or your child's visit, we ask that you pay in full at the time the service is delivered.
This will reduce the cost of preparing, processing, and mailing statements at the end of the month and permit the staff of this office to concentrate on providing the best possible eye care for your family.
Ifyou or your child have an eye condition for which surgery has been recommended, information has been prepared to help you understand some important aspects about the operation.
Many questions will arise concerning this major undertaking, and we are here to help answer those questions.
Our Surgical Coordinator Jennifer Platt is available Monday through Friday between 8:30 - 3:30.
