He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University in 1969.
He graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from Georgetown University Medical School in 1973.
He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Georgetown and his fellowship in Glaucoma at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
