Our offices are open and are currently accepting new patients. For your safety, Ophthalmology Associates follows all guidelines from health and government officials. Our office has implemented the following procedures to practice safe social distancing. We ask all sick patients or those recently in contact with infected individuals to stay home at this time.

Waiting rooms will be limited to patients only. If the waiting room becomes overcrowded, we may ask you to wait in an alternate waiting area or your car. In addition to our main office in downtown San Antonio, Ophthalmology Associates has five satellite locations to better serve our patients throughout South Central Texas. Established in 1970, Ophthalmology Associates of San Antonio boasts five world-class eye surgeons and a support staff of dedicated technicians including certified contact lens technicians. Ophthalmology Associates of San Antonio was established in 1970, by two prominent eye surgeons, Thomas F. Hogan, Jr., M.D. and Joe R. McFarlane, Jr., M.D., J.D. Their goal was simple: to better serve people needing comprehensive eye care in a centrally-located facility.
In 1973, David M. Hunter, M.D., joined the staff, adding his expertise in the subspecialty of vitreo-retinal disease.
With a solid foundation and reputation, Ophthalmology Associates has grown to meet the need for additional quality eye care in outlying areas.
Since 1970, our experienced eye doctors and support staff offer comprehensive vision care throughout San Antonio, Boerne, Pearsall, Uvalde, and Jourdanton.
Our eye care professionals specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of a wide array of eye conditions and diseases in our adult patients.

To speed up the registration process, please bring your eye-glasses and/or contact lenses and an up-to-date list of all your medications and eyedrops.
Include your current insurance card and one form of photo identification.

Our education center provides patients with supplementary information about eye care, eye disease, and treatments through selections from our well-stocked video library.
