For more than half a century, a group of dedicated ophthalmologists has carried forward the vision of one early leader in Paducah eye care and treatment. We have now grown to six ophthalmologists, one optometrist, and more than 40 employees, many of whom have been with the practice for more than 25 years.
Services
The Ophthalmology Group of Paducah has a long history, a noted reputation, and an eye for innovation.
In 1951 Dr. George H. Widener opened a practice of ophthalmology in Paducah.
In 1954 the practice relocated to 1903 Broadway, and has been in continuous operation ever since.
After 18 years of going it alone, Dr. Widener invited Dr. Jeff Johnson (now retired) to join him as his partner.
Drs.
Widener and Johnson performed the first phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implant surgeries for cataracts in Paducah in the mid 1970s.
