From your first visit to Buffalo Ophthalmology, you'll feel our commitment to comfort and an overall exceptional patient experience, no matter the issue or the procedure in question.

With decades of experience between them, our practitioners are well-respected in their field, but one of the reasons why we receive so many patient referrals is because our partners know they can count on us to address their patients' needs with compassion and respect.
Services
At Buffalo Ophthalmology, we are a practice of medical eye specialists with industry-leading experience and expertise.
Since 1990, we have cultivated an environment of exceptional patient care, where the focus is on spending time understanding the needs of the patients we treat.
This is how we make high-quality, personal service our top priority.
Dr. Deepan Selvadurai is a renowned glaucoma specialist, with more than a decade of experience treating patients from around the region and pioneering new and exciting methods of treating glaucoma patients.
Dr. Peter Forgach, is our practice founder (originally Amherst Retina) and a well-respected retinal specialist in Western New York.
He is a recognized Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Peter Forgach has also proudly served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy and Chief of the Retina Service at the Oakland Naval Hospital in Oakland, California.
Dr. Forgach's primary focus is in retinal care.
For over 30 years in private practice, he has prided himself on building and maintaining proficiency in the latest retinal treatment techniques, including laser and surgical treatments.
Dr. Asha Kumar is Western New York's leading corneal specialist, with over 40 years managing corneal diseases and performing refractive surgeries.
Her expertise is in corneal transplants, as well as complex corneal infections, dystrophies, and severe dry eye.
Through hard work and dedication, she earned a fellowship with James V. Aquavella, M.D., at the University of Rochester.
This meant that she could learn firsthand from the first fellowship-trained corneal surgeon in the United States, and she has applied this knowledge and commitment to learning her entire career.
Dr. Deepan Selvadurai is a fellowship trained and board certified cataract and glaucoma specialist.
He has largely been amongst the first to adopt and utilize new technology and advanced methods of treatment and management for complex cases of cataract and glaucoma.
Dr. Deepan Selvadurai was one of the first surgeons in the country to perform a novel minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) using the new OMNI surgical system, which reduces eye pressure.
He was also one of the first in the country to perform dropless cataract surgery, which allows patients an easier recovery by virtue of needing fewer medications in the post-operative period.
If you're diagnosed with glaucoma, it means you have one of a group of eye diseases that cause the pressure inside the eye to increase, damaging the optic nerve and leading to vision loss.
At Buffalo Ophthalmology, we work with patients to help identify this condition as early as possible, manage symptoms, and provide treatment for glaucoma before vision loss occurs.
Glaucoma is common - one of the leading causes of blindness for people over 60 years of age - but that doesn't mean a diagnosis isn't a scary proposition.
