Are you a parent concerned with your child's ability to focus, read, and learn? Have you experienced dizziness, double-vision, and a poorer quality of life after a traumatic brain injury, stroke, or another neurological event? Dr. Mary Gregory and Dr. Miranda Lepinski have focused on advanced vision solutions for the past 9 years, with the goal of developing and restoring full visual function to children and adults alike.

Visual function goes far beyond simply having 20/20 vision. Proper visual function can only occur when the eyes and brain work together as a team to focus, track, and perceive the world in motion around us. Our Developmental Optometrists have devoted their careers to exclusively practice neuro-optometry - an advanced area of optometry focused on retraining the brain and eyes to work together as a team to accurately interpret the world without headaches, strain, blurriness, or dizziness.

If you have poor visual skills, it can affect your focussing, reading, and processing abilities.

Neuro-optometry develops and restores full visual function.
Research shows that Convergence Insufficiency (CI) can affect up to 15% of all school-age children - that's approximately 1 in 6 children!
CI refers to a decreased ability to bring the eyes inwards and comfortably maintain this focus over long periods of time.
The inwards positioning of the eyes is required to read books, do homework and look at a computer screen.
As you can imagine, having CI could significantly impact a student's learning ability, attention levels and overall school performance.
Functional vision problems in children can produce a similar set of symptoms to those found in ADHD, such as difficulty focusing in school, tendency to fidget or squirm in their seats and making careless mistakes.
Visual integration problems can lead to skipping lines, confusing words and word-order and generally making it impossible to read accurately.
This perpetually makes bright children seem like they just don't get it, and results in secondary behavioral issues.
If your child displays poor attention in school, don't automatically assume that it's Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
