During your consultative process regarding cataract surgery you will be asked to make a decision regarding lens implants.
You can select a traditional monofocal lens implant which can enable good vision at ONE distance or you can elect to have a PREMIUM LENS implant that enables good vision at near, far and intermediate distances.
Belmont Eye Clinic has chosen to use the Tecnis Symfony Lens.
There is an out-of-pocket surcharge for Premium Implants, financing is available.
Please consult our staff and doctors about the extreme wonders that the new premium lens implants offer.
LASIK, short for laser in-situ keratomileusis, is a procedure which utilizes the excimer laser to reshape your cornea.
This procedure can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
To correct nearsightedness, a small section of the central cornea is lifted with an instrument called a microkeratome.
This extremely thin "flap" of cornea stays attached to one side.
Next, the excimer laser delivers pulses of ultraviolet light to remove microscopic layers of cornea.
Then the flap is put back to its original position.
Anyone 21 years of age or older who is nearsighted and/or astigmatic may be a candidate for the CustomeVueTM procedure.
Visit www.personalbestvision.com and talk to your doctor to find out more about VISX CustomVueTM laser vision correction.
Medically, to be a candidate for Laser Vision Correction you need a stable glasses prescription.
The most important requirement is that your vision can be corrected to normal with glasses or contacts.
If your vision is inadequate even when you wear your glasses, then this surgery will not solve your visual problems.
