Dr. Richards is a graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee with Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees.
He stayed one year at the College as a clinical instructor in the Vision Rehabilitation Department before joining the Navy.
Dr. Richards was stationed in the Optometry Clinic of the Naval Hospital at Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Base in Cherry Point, North Carolina serving for three years as clinic director.
After leaving the Navy he served at Wayne Minor Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri for two years (now the Samuel Rogers Health Center).
