Your overall health and the health of your eyes are related.
Annual eye exams go beyond identifying and treating blurry/distorted vision, eye fatigue, focusing problems, or eye-muscle imbalance disorders.
An eye exam can also help uncover an underlying ocular or systemic health condition and can aid in monitoring an existing one.
Early detection of any ocular or systemic health issue of concern allows for earlier management and/or treatment in order to prevent progression.
This video describes what we see when examining the retina (the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye), macula (the part of the retina responsible for optimal central & color vision), and optic nerve (which connects the retina to the brain).
