He received his medical degree from University of Tehran in 1968, and then spent two years in the military. Dr. Moayery finished his ophthalmology residency in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1976 with one year of fellowship in the Wilmer Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital. He spent a few years in private practice and academic positions, and then three years as a consultant ophthalmologist overseas.
In 1984, he returned to Baltimore and completed a year of fellowship in corneal immunology in the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Moayery is a member of such professional organizations as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and has been on staff of many local hospitals, such as Sentara Bayside Hospital and Chesapeake General Hospital.
