NEURO-OPTHALMOLOGY is a subspecialty of ophthalmology and neurology concerning visual symptoms that are related to the nervous system. NEURO-OTOLOGY is a subspecialty of otolaryngology and neurology concerning disorders of the ear and its connections to the brain. MCN&N offers diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as blepharospasm, Bell's palsy, double vision, headaches, multiple sclerosis, stroke, ataxia, balance problems, dizziness, vertigo, and nystagmus.
The Center has specialized expertise in techniques such as Botulinum toxin, Video-ENG testing and the Epley maneuver, which is used to treat and/or cure vertigo. The Center also evaluates and manages some general neurological conditions. Dr. Carter is the only physician (neurologist or otolaryngologist) in Howard County, Maryland with fellowship training in both Neuro-ophthalmology and Neuro-otology.
