Sheehy Opticians is family owned and operated and has been serving the Capital District with quality eye care and eyewear since 1953.
John A. Sheehy started the business in the basement of 227 Lark Street.
In 1968 the business moved to its current location and John took on William Cahill as a partner.
The name was then changed to Sheehy & Cahill Opticians.
In 1984, Matthew Sheehy, John's son, joined the business and in 1989 William Cahill retired.
It was at this time the business name changed to Sheehy Opticians as it remains today.

On top of standard contact lens fittings we also specialize in toric contact lenses fittings for astigmatism, hybrid and scleral contact lens fittings for corneal disorders, corneal reshaping therapy lenses for myopia control, prosthetic and light blocking contact lenses for photophobia and corneal injuries as well as multifocal contact lens fittings.

Mary is a graduate of Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York, her home town.
She has received extensive training in low vision and OSHA approved safety glass fitting.
Mary joined Sheehy Opticians in 2015.
Finding the perfect frame paired with the best lenses to meet our patient's needs is her passion.
Mary can be found traveling, sipping wine, and spending time with her family.
